2015 Bb Pilipinas Top Bets To Watch Out For

The most exciting beauty pageant has come again. There seems truly nothing better and bigger than Bb Pilipinas pageant. For me who have been following the pageant since I was a kid, the pageant’s become more exciting every year. This has been evident in the turn out of people going to the pageant’s events such as the fashion show, talent showdown, parade of beauties, and ultimately during finals night.



Here are the top charmers during the parade  of beauties where we saw the ladies up close and personal.  This list in fact validates my thoughts of them before the parade.



I have a collection of pageant materials and I do still enjoy back tracking pageants in my iPad before I fall to sleep. I watch Bb Pilipinas or Miss Universe when I wake up as I prepare to work. I have been organizing viewing parties for Miss Universe. I have gained a group of close friends who are beauty pageant enthusiasts as well. This year’s more exciting because there’s a need for us to seriously revisit our choices  surveying the trend of the recent international winners and what seems to be the kind of look or personality the international pageants are seeking for. Such will give our country higher propensity of clinching more international crowns.

2014 was not exactly a great year for Bb Pilipinas as we know.    



There are certain profiles for certain pageants that must be clearly established and truly articulated from choosing and honing the delegates pre-international pageant. 

Drilling further, in international pageants there has to be a profile of that winning package per pageant. It should not mean sending just anyone.

Miss Universe is the best for me because its standard to quite an extent has become predictable. The choosing has to be someone who is holistically likelable. 

Recent trending has it that Miss Universe chooses the most striking on stage (modeling background a true plus), she who is commercially appealing (power power to attack sponsors), she who has fun and amiable personality, she who has a huge fan base making noise for the pageant to stay relevant, she who is statuesque and could be runway, she who could  speak confidently on TV and do big events, etc. Thus, from amongst the candidates this year, the following have what it takes to become the next Miss Universe from this pageant amorous nation.

I go for Hannah Sison to clinch the plum Miss Universe Philipines crown as she is or almost ready in all aspects. It would no longer need a lot of push or effort to find “it” or make her confident as she already is . She speaks excellently given her educative endeavor.  While Experience is a plus but it’s  truly her winning package that has made her stand out. Hannah is statuesque, has huge fan base, is confidet and is smart. Many even from her very first attempt in 2013 believe that she should have been crowned. 

Methinks anything can happen come sunday and that makes the pageant more exciting.

Strongest Miss Universe Philippines is Mary Jean Lastimosa

Yes, many say the Philippines’ strongest bet in Miss Universe is recent date is finally competing in this year’s much awaited quest. Welcome, Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa, 26, from the province of North Cotabato. 

We all know MJ’s story of perseverance, determination, passion for pageants, huge fan base, etc. The four-peat top five finish of this pageant loving Philippines since 2010 has truly placed this country in Miss Universe pageant success book having the most amazing fan base and support, having such competitive and likable delegates trending so well in Miss Universe pageant, amongsts the huge pageant fanatics world over, etc.

MJ’S 3rd entry to Bb Pilipinas clinching the plum Miss Universe Philippines crown was such a huge success story. Now, there’s just nothing that shall stop her to go to the Miss Universe pageant.

This is certainly going to be the most awaited pageant this year. Will Mary Jean Lastimosa be the 3rd Filipina Miss Universe?  Let us see.

Final Predictions: 51st Bb Pilipinas Crowning Tonight by Carlo Tenerife

Truly this is the time of the year when pageant enthusiasts get craziest. It’s Bb Pilipinas coronation night happening tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum come 8pm.

The BBPilipinasGOLD beauties were truly accomplished and successful having won two of four international crowns. 2013 Miss International title was won by Bea Rose Santiago. 2013 Miss Supranational crown was won by Mutya Johanna Datul. Ara Arida placed 3rd runner up in the 2013 Miss Universe pageant while Cindy Miranda placed finalist in the 2013 Miss Tourism Queen international quest.

Kudos to the BbPilipinasGOLD beauties for such remarkable wins. You all made us very happy given your accomplishments.

The known Miss Universe Formula

Now that this pageant amorous Philippines has kind of come up with the so-called winning formula to making it to the Miss Universe runner up spot year after year given the high placements and recent successes of Venus Raj, 2010 4th RU, Shamcey Supsup, 2011 3rd RU, Janine Tugonon 2012 1st RU and Ara Arida, 2013 3rd RU. Now for sure we are up for the biggest challenge, which is to finally clinch the Miss Universe crown.

Recent trend has it that the crowned Miss Universe is someone who has an overall commercial appeal, a pretty good spokesperson, statuesque, has a versatile look, to quite an extent naive and less pageant patty, etc.

Given the 40 candidates in the 51st Bb Pilipinas edition here are the twelve candidates I confidently believe are Miss Universe material and as such can also do very well in the other four international pageants. I set the standard using the Miss Universe system because this pageant is relatively easier to predict, has the clearest judging system, etc. In my Miss Universe prediction last year I was able to hit 12/15 and 4/5 after preliminary. Given more training, media exposures, better wardrobe, the road to the Philippines’s 3rd Miss Universe crown would seem smooth and thus achievable.

Eight Attributes of an Excellent Miss Universe Philippines By Carlo Tenerife

Miss Universe Philippines is THE plum title to be won in Bb Pilipinas. Miss Universe is THE pageant to be won given the many other pageants held in the world annually.

In my lifetime I am yet to witness a Filipina crowned Miss Universe. So far we have been doing quite well by the high placement and recent successes of Venus Raj, 2010 Miss Universe 4th RU, Shamcey Supsup, 2011 Miss Universe 3rd RU, Janine Tugonon 2012 Miss Universe 1st RU and Ara Arida, 2013 Miss Universe 3rd RU.

Kudos for the four peats as such indeed has placed back this pageant amorous country in the real pageant limelight. I say we must carry on and finally clinch the Miss Universe crown.

What can be done aside from attributing winning to sheer luck?

To start with, let me define what an Excellent Miss Universe Philippines is by the 8 descriptive items below based on my many observations, (deep-dive) analyses, quite a number of exposures to Miss Universe materials (audio, video, etc) overtime, as an enthusiast, thoughts shared by some of my pageant loving peers, etc.

We have been celebrating how this pageant amorous Philippines has “conquered the universe” by her FOUR-peat recent successes to already won 2 Miss Universe crowns. As such, it is tantamount to saying that we have “learned” our hard lessons from the many years of drought being so ignored in Miss Universe, that we have somehow created a success formula and thus applied such so called magical steps into (almost) winning.

While it’s said by many in this pageant world that they who triumph are the luckiest of the night, there are also those factors that can be worked on by the candidate or the pageant directors to further boost chances in making it to the cut, to shine further, outwit or to even win it all.

What is the concept behind an awesome Miss Universe Philippines? Among others, here are some of my thoughts

1. She has to be very physically appealing, that is, in the first five seconds you see her you’re glued instantaneously and would say this woman is IT, she is shining like a diamond and a real WOW! No compromises on this and definably no explanation needed of explaining her beauty and background. She has to be the winning package that appeals to most people. The Miss Universe pageant usually has over 70 delegates and the chances of exposures would be fleeting. Even the pace of the preliminary competition is too swift and given so her beauty has be felt and appreciated right within those very few seconds.

2. She has to be very photogenic as well. Her pictures must declare too much strikingly about her that at the onset she could be a magnet that could attract more than expected. This is excellent to drive FAN base, eventually add more pageant popularity, attract more bigger sponsors, etc

3. She has to academically fine as such would manifest her consistent discipline, strong drive, hard work and dedication to what she’s doing. In the Philippine culture education is truly essential and that is something parents work hard for to provide to their children. As she is a role model to the youth, parents can sell in the concept of good education can lead to more and better opportunities in life.

4. She has to ooze confidence to be noticed, to draw more attention and leave a very good impression to others. She has to deliver and carry out her tasks confidently and as such make very good impressions about those.

5. She has to be warm, congenial, and not intimidating to people. That is being the ambassadress of goodwill type ready to reach out, commune with people of different walks of life.

6. She has to look every inch a beautiful Filipina. She must be proud of her color and her rich culture in general. Trending has it over time that the real “Pinay” good looks get much more appeal in the international pageant such as Miss Universe as in the cases of Miriam Quiambao, Janine Tugonon, etc. She could by her very self promote the Philippines to the rest of the world.

7. She has to exude the true meaning of fitness and well-being. As an ambassadress, she would propagate all these amongst the young people especially women where they serve as their role models for inspiration and influence to realize full potentials, fulfill their dreams, etc.

8. She is candid, spontaneous and to quite an extent a lovely naïve. Miss Universe after all is not a debate contest or that she has to be very well researched, persuasive at all times or argumentative in nature, etc. She is not expected to know it all but at her early age but has to have a mind of a good natured and mature woman who could decide for herself and understand what is right, just and true.

Looking at the 2014 Bb Pilipinas photos, reviewing the many videos elsewhere online, checking the web interviews, studying recent Miss Universe materials everyday, etc, the cumulative effect of all those are the basis for choosing my TOP 12 to date. This list may still change as we draw nearer the biggest day, which is March 30, 2014 at the Smart Areneta. The current Miss Universe from Venezuela Gabriella Isler shall grace the event with artist Emin.

There are a number of activities in line with Bb Pilipinas this year and I’m yet to see more of the 40 ladies.

Will Miss Philippines Ara Arida Win 2013 Miss Universe?

The Season Has Come

Truly the season of much looked-for keen observations, daring predictions and worthy acknowledgments of being bonafide beauty pageant enthusiasts have finally come to being.

The 2013 Miss Universe fever has been heating up to the high in the past few weeks and all social media networks have been hectically manifesting such hugeness bringing to the fore favorites, reviews, et cetera.

The Preliminary Competition

Yesterday, we finally witnessed this year’s 86 delegates to the 2013 Miss Universe pageant on its 62nd year competed head to head in the much important swimsuit and evening competitions. I say that, among others, this the much awaited part of the Miss Universe pageant as the greatest test of commanding stage presence was placed at stake and the real time cheers were out to test the real stand outs.

Trademark of Miss Universe being show efficient and fast pacing was still notably observed in the preliminary competition this year making the viewers stay glued on screen till the very end.

Selecting Your Bets

So how do we select our top 15 and favorites based on the preliminary competition?

There are a number of metrics or probably biases to consider but to sum those up, I say the oozing appeal that goes beyond color and even race that makes one truly noticeable, i.e., showing off striking physical attributes, remarkable beauty queen confidence, alluring personal style, et cetera.

One can gauge rightly the choice of front runners by recent trending, sheer gut-feel, or prolly cumulative effect of long term beauty pageant exposures over time.

As such, here are the possible top 15, and the author’s TOP 5 based on the preliminary performances, fan base recall, over all impression, et cetera.

These choices even did spring from following the Miss Universe pageant long way before the actual pageant started in Moscow, Russia and intensified further in the preliminary competition. These ladies are much talked about online (Facebook, online forums, Twitter, et cetera) and have showed excellent performance in the preliminary competition.

5. Venezuela

Bio: Gabriela Isler started taking flamenco dancing lessons when she was a child, but says that her “real training” began when her niece was born.

Author’s Note: Gabriela, 25, 5’10” from Maracay is probably one of the most prepared candidates this year. She appears amiable and seems to know how to play her game well. Wearing a fabulously elegant evening gown and showing her great body in the swimsuit round, she certainly was one so hard to ignore this year. She appeared calm onstage and her pageant perfect “pasarella” manifested in both the swimsuit and evening gown portions.

4. Brazil

Bio: Jakelyne Oliveira dreams of making a name for herself in the fashion industry and using her image to support social and environmental causes.

Author’s Note: Jakelyne, 20, 5’8″, from Randonopolis stood out in the preliminary competition. She wore a very attractive evening gown, which is a strategy plus to really stand out and her fit body manifested in the swimsuit portion. I like the way she did strike that pose in the marker.

3. Spain

Bio: Patricia Yurena Rodriguez’s greatest personal accomplishment is leaving her small hometown in Tenerife, located in the Canary Islands of Spain, to pursue a modeling career.

Author’s Note: Patricia, 23, 5’8″, from Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife is very hard to miss. She has been much talked about in forums as well and seems very likable like a real ambassadress of goodwill. She has striking good looks and appeal that can draw attention be that in photos or videos.

2. USA

Bio: Erin Brady grew up in East Hampton, Connecticut. Before winning Miss USA, Erin was working as a financial accountant. She cites her biggest accomplishment as moving out on her own at the age of 17.

Author’s Note: Erin, 26, 5’10” from Connecticut has a very commanding stage presence, beautiful face and gorgeous body. She is an ambassadress material type and would be a good Miss Universe. I like her more given her performance in the preliminary competition. It appears that her styling worked really well for her.

Bio: Ariella Arida graduated with honors from the University of the Philippines with a degree in chemistry.

Author’s Note: Ara, 24, Laguna has a fan base that is amazingly huge, which seemed to have gone viral on all forms of media. Ara has been invited to grace many a number of essential Miss Universe corporate events and shows. Her personality is naturally bubbly and fun. “Pasarella” was pageant perfect owning the stage like it was hers and she impressively showed her fit body in the swimsuit. The yellow gown she donned complicated her color more than enough to make her shine on stage. At this point in this, what she needs is sheer luck as she has those other needed Miss Universe stand out characteristics already.

As we always say, it is anyone’s real ballgame when one gets in the all essential semi finals cut. Can wait no more for the big day to come, November 9, US time. In the meantime, let us vote for our favorites and wish that the momentum will spring to their direction.

Miss Philippines arrives in Moscow Today for the 62nd Miss Universe Pageant

Yesterday our Miss Universe Philippines Ara Arida was a top newsmaker as she left Manila for her stop over in Hong Kong en route her Russia destination. Today, Ara leaves Hong kong for Moscow, Russia where the 62nd Miss Universe pageant awaits her.

Aboard Aeroflot SU213, ETA in Moscow to her ten-hour flight is 16:55 Moscow or 20:55 MNL time. A number of the candidates have already arrived for the pageant. Ara as one of the early favorites is one to watch out for.

As we draw nearer the biggest day in the universe, November 9 (US) or November 10 (PH), everyone is getting crazier following the updates of our 2013 Miss Universe Philippines Ara Arida and what more she could bring to the fore given all the trends, so called formula to winning or getting noticed, if so those aforementioned truly exist.

On Monday, October 21, MNL time, our Miss Universe Philippines Ara Arida will leave for Moscow, Russia in her quest to take home the Philippines’ third Miss Universe crown.

Currently she has the massive support of the pageant amorous Filipinos who keep busy fora about her in all over social media so engrossed flooding the timelines of Facebook, Twitter, in exclusive Ara Arida group, et cetera.

Ara Arida, 2013 Miss Universe Philippines’ Send Off

Last Thursday, October 17, in 2013 Miss Universe Philippines Ara Arida’s official send off, we witnessed the manifestation of her undeviating hard work, thoroughgoing determination, and intense fighting spirit when she came up on that stage very ready and eager to clinch the Philippines’ third Miss Universe crown.

Bashers would always be there and they should keep her proving. Being an manager of a huge Fan page I have observed Ara has quite a few bashers but they have diminished in recent days given her recent glam shots and many TV appearances.

Ara’s bashers say she lacks that oomph, superb communication skills and winning personality. But, hey, by meticulous observation recent trending has it that the winners of Miss Universe have become less predictable, less pageant patty and even exude a certain level of naïveté as such as in the cases of Leila Lopes (2011) and Olivia Culpo (2012).

Having said so about recent trending, which is crucial in gauging the right national delegate, I say that the winning formula is yet to be defined. As such, it is Ara and and everyone else’s ballgame at this time.

What has remained strong in Ara is her fighting spirit, emerging huge fan base, aggressive support of the Filipinos, truly remarkable stage presence, beautiful face, fit body and her good vibe personality. Thus, all she need to do is to carry on and wishfully be lucky enough to take her our 3rd Miss Universe crown.

Is Ara Arida the next Filipina Miss Universe?

By now your pageant calendar must’ve already been blocked on November 9, or November 10 in the Philippines as the 2013 Miss Universe pageant shall take place that much awaited day.

Gorgeous Ariella “Ara” Arida, 24, 5’7″, a Chemistry graduate from University of the Philippines-Los Banos, who hails from Alaminos in Laguna is to clinch the Philippines’ 3rd Miss Universe crown and that is after 39 long years. The Miss Universe pageant this year will be held at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.

Gloria Diaz won our first Miss Universe in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973. Miriam Quiambao and Janine Tugonon almost did so thus placing first runners up in 1999 and 2012, repetitively.

The 2013 Universe candidates are expected to arrive in Moscow by October 20, which is just about 2 weeks from now. As the much awaited pageant day gets closer, the excitement is undeniably mounting and the many fans are getting unstoppably crazier. As a manifestation, a number of online FAN pages and forums have been sprouting in significant number. And yes, Ara has truly been getting a huger fan base and bigger support day by day, which is a feel good vibe.

Just recently, we’ve been seeing Ara guesting on many TV shows like It’s ShowTime prolly needed in boosting further her confidence, communication skills, stage presence, fighting spirit, etc., which all seem to be working fine for her.

Bet by keen observance you must agree that Ara is all geared up already to battle and to ultimately capture that sought after Miss Universe crown. What she needs is that extra essential key factor to pageant winning, which is called luck. As such, will Ara’s stunningly beautiful looks, healthy and fit body, fun personality, smart aura, strong appeal, huge fan base, etc., make her the next and third Filipina Miss Universe? We all do hope so.

Bb Pilipinas Tourism Cindy Miranda Vies for 2013 Miss Tourism Queen International

2013 Miss Tourism Queen International happening tomorrow!

It’s yet another BIG beauty pageant day tomorrow, October 3, 2013, for us enthusiasts and of course for our very own 2013 Bb Pilipinas Tourism Johanna Cindy Veron Miranda as it’s now her turn to shine in her quest to be 2013 Miss Tourism Queen international.

The pageant in its eight edition this year will be held in Xianning, China.

She described herself as “unstoppable” in the Bb Pilipinas GOLD Q & A when Cindy was asked what is the personal quality that most people remember about her. Now I can feel that “unstoppable” part of her personality as she has come in truly prepared, determined, competitive, and hungry to clinch the international crown.

Cindy, 23, 5’7” from Rizal, Nueva Ecija, is to beat 43 other candidates.

Cindy will absolutely be an great Miss Tourism Queen international as she is naturally amiable, has the ambassadress type of personality, is a cum laude Tourism degree graduate from University of Santo Tomas, a social media savvy, is used to being in the limelight or to media exposure as a TV host, has tons of FAN base, can truly boost tourism and other causes of the pageant, etc.

Justine Gabionza in 2006 first won the Miss Tourism Queen International title for the Philippines.

To Cindy, we wish you the very best of luck and we pray for your ultimate success. May you bring home our 2nd Miss Tourism Queen International title and carry on realizing our 2013 international pageant grand slam goal.
