Habiscus is Ariella Arida

What’s the connotative of the flower Hibiscus? Elsewhere in literature, when one’s named as Hibiscus it means one has a delicate beauty and, is consumed by love.

Recently, our Miss Universe Philippines Ara Arida made a courtesy visit to her alma mater, i.e., University of the Philippines in Los Banos. At the said affair, Ara was presented an abundant of Hibiscus hybrid that is in fact named after her, Ariella Arida.

At Ara’s stage right now, Ara can be likened to a bud that is awaited by everyone else in the universe to bloom further to a truly beautiful flower and wishfully she will take home the Philippines’ third Miss Universe crown.

Katrina Jayne FTW, and Belated HBD!

Author’s Note

Truly one of my favorite Bb Pilipinas winners in 2012 would be Katrina Jayne Rivera Dimaranan. From the Aces and Queens’ mock pageant that is even before the official 2012 Bb Pilipinas pageant, it felt like a winner was born in the making. At young 19 then, I like her vivaciousness, and candidness that is on top of her dusky morena look, statuesque 5’9″ height, etc.

Came 2012 Bb Pilipinas coronation night justified were my forethoughts of her. She clinched the Bb Pilipinas Tourism crown and she certainly had a good year of reign. But like many others I still wish that she be sent to compete and represent our pageant amorous country in an international pageant. Certainly and I bet she would do very very well.

And she just turned 20 on June 6. Belated happy birthday, Trina!

The “Unstoppable” Johanna Cindy Miranda

Johanna Cindy Miranda 23, 5’7” from Rizal, Nueva Ecija has already been a household name to many of us even before her Bb Pilipinas quest as has already been in the glitzy world of showbiz being part of the game show “Will Time Big Time” and a former PBB Unlimited Housemate.

Belonging to Team Aces and Queens camp, this UST BS Tourism cum laude graduate won this year’s Bb Pilipinas Tourism crown in the pageant’s golden anniversary. Aside from the title she was also awarded Miss Cream Silk Beyond Beautiful Woman and Bb. Petron.

In the Bb Pilipinas GOLD Q & A she was asked what is the personal quality that most people remember about her. Cindy said she would describe herself as “unstoppable” She said everything she wanted in life she did it even if she did not have any permission from her parents, friends, or people around her as long as what she’d do she knew would be good for her. She added at the end of the day she would believe everyone around her would be proud of her.

Can be considered a pageant veteran, Cindy has participated and won in several pageants in the past such as Miss Teen Philippines Region 1, Miss Philippines Earth Baguio, Miss Tourism Ambassador. Some unconfirmed reports have them that Cindy will compete at the 2013 Miss Tourism Queen, the venue and date of which are still on TBA status or could be at 2014 Miss United Continent in beautiful Ecuador. As it’s said, let us wait and see.

Author’s Note

Attended the mock pageant of Aces and Queens and she is one stunner hard to ignore. She has always been confident and competent from the very start with the way she protected on stage, etc. Had the chance to converse with her in the Bb Pilipinas Talent night dinner and yes she is one fine woman and at that she is truly likable. In the press presentation at Makati Shang, she was a clear standout especially with the way she carried her Filipiniana. Her videos would attest to such a claim. Knew she could actually win right then and there.

Today is Cindy’s homecoming to her province. As expected she was warmly welcomed by her kababayans.

Congratulations, Cindy! Whether it is Miss Tourism International or Miss United Continent, bring home a crown for your pageant loving country!

Lovely Lass Mutya is Bb Pilipinas Supranational

Her given name’s Mutya Johanna Datul from Santa Maria, Isabela. She is young at 20, 5’8” tall and she just won this year’s Bb Pilipinas Supranational in the pageant’s golden anniversary. In the same prestigious pageant, she bagged the best in long gown and Miss Photogenic awards.

Prior to Bb Pilipinas Gold, Mutya has participated in several pageants such as the 2011 Miss Isabela Tourism where she won and 2012 Mutya ng Pilipinas where she ended as a semifinalist. Mutya has just earned the right to compete in Miss Supranational pageant now on its fifth edition. The international pageant will be hosted by the Eastern European country of Belarus scheduled on September 6, 2013. Just last year, the Philippines placed third runner up by the success of Elaine Kay Moll, 2012 Bb Pilipinas First runner who was handpicked by BPCI to represent the country in the 2012 Miss Supranational quest.

In an interview, Mutya said that her inspiration has always been her ill mom.

Author’s Note.

In Bb Pilipinas GOLD, Mutya Johanna Datul’s got one if not this year’s prettiest face. In addition, her oozing appeal and strong stage presence cannot just be denied. While many feared she might not be able to deliver well in Q & A, she did so quite impressively and proved herself worthy of one coveted crown that is Bb Pilipinas Supranational.

Mutya, congratulations to you and we wish for you to bring the country’s very first Miss Supranational crown!

Oh Stunning Bea Rose Santiago

2013 Bb Pilipinas International Bea Rose Santiago

Born in the Philippines, Bea Rose Santiago, belonging to team KF or Kagandahang Flores, 22, 5’9″, from Masbate is now Bb Pilipinas International. She will be our country’s official delegate in this year’s Miss International pageant, its 53rd edition to be held possibly in Chengdu, China in a date to be announced very soon.

Bea studied Communication majoring in Public Relations at York University in Toronto, Canada. She’s also modeled professionally for agencies like Ford, Elite, etc. Being in the pageant world is not new to Bea as she was in fact crowned 2011 Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Filipino, represented our country very well and became a finalist in the Miss Tourism International 2012 held in China.

In last year’s Miss International pageant held at Okinawa, Japan on October 21, 2012, the Philippine representative Nicole Schmitz made it to the top 15. This will Bea Rose Santiago win the country’s fifth Miss International crown?

Author’s note

In this year’s most prestigious and celebrated Bb Pilipinas GOLD, Bea’s made good impressions to pageant aficionados from the very start of the pageant. She’s been talked about. Quite obviously she is such a real looker, has great stage presence, statuesque, witty and many say one of the nicest candidates of the batch. True enough she emerged victorious, and her winning did not come as a surprise.

Congratulations and good luck, Bea!

Three Peats Must Go FOUR!

Ecstatic still with the recent Miss Universe first runner up victory of Janine Tugonon just last year, I wish this year we shall carry on with the four peat into the finals or finally clinch our third Miss Universe crown. While luck is truly essential and must be the IT factor to certainly succeed in Miss Universe or any pageant for that matter I say there must have been some brilliant and creative minds placed into strategizing, developing, training, etc our recent Miss Universe Philippines winners who have become runners up in Miss Universe.

From Venus Raj being fourth runner up in 2010, Shamcey Supsup’s third runner up placement in 2011 and Janine Tugonon’s almost Miss Universe win last year, the pressure has always been on to this year’s Philippine representative long before Ara Arida’s own crowning as 2013 Miss Universe Philippines. Bring it on!

Miss Universe Philippines Janine Tugonon’s farewell speech

“The past year has been entirely incredible. I already felt blessed when I was crowned Miss Universe Philippines last April. But then I had to wait for 7 more months before I could actually compete. Instead of being impatient, I regard it as an opportunity to hone my qualities to endless personality development sessions, and improve my mindset; workout with increased fervor and at the same time strengthen my fighting spirit. I am glad I did all that because I was able to make my countrymen proud.

Winning so close to the Miss Universe crown is a humbling experience. It made me realize that one can do so much for others by being the best one can be. I also relish the times we had with operation smiles and other charitable activities. I treasure the friends I have made along the way. I am grateful to those who rooted for me since day one from the local pageant to Miss Universe in Las Vegas.

Thank you to my Bb family , Madame Stella Marquez Araneta, my mentors, and most specially God without whose grace I would not be where I am now.

Finally I thank all of the Filipinos who cheered for me from wherever they were. Because of you I never felt alone in this journey. Because of you I have realized what a blessing it is to be a Binibini. I wish you all a happy golden year na look forward to more beautiful years ahead.”20130606-224521.jpg20130606-224757.jpg
